Weddings are always fun to shoot. The mood is generally light and happy, there’s nervousness and excitement in everyone’s eyes, and lots of wine (not for me, unfortunately lol, for the guests!). Amanda and Josh’s wedding has a special place in my photographic career though, as I was lucky enough to bond with them over a few sessions in the winter and spring the year prior!
The day started off with me 20 minutes on the road, going towards the motel that Josh and his groomsmen were staying at, with the nagging feeling that I was forgetting something. 60 minutes later, I had turned around, gone home, picked up my tripod and was back on the road towards the motel!
Josh seemed pretty calm for someone about to enter eternal vows, but I think that’s why Whisky was invented!
Meanwhile, at a cottage, Amanda and her bridesmaids were getting ready for the big day, with some wine and lots of laughter!
Once everyone was ready, Amanda took a quick stroll with her sister and grandmother (who was also a bridesmaid, how cool is that??) before being dropped off for the ceremony!
Josh’s reaction to Amanda’s Penguin surprise was one of my favorite moments of the wedding! Pro-tip! Always let the photographer know about surprises so that they can aren’t caught off-guard! Thankfully, Amanda is a pro!
Amanda and Josh got married at the BeanTown ranch, which has many upon many beautiful places to photograph very recent newlyweds! We were lucky to have such a beautiful day for the wedding! +1c in February!! Clear, blue skies most of the day! A fantastic sunset with sun-rays peaking between the trees that lit Amanda and Josh perfectly in the time we had for these pictures!
All in all, it truly was a perfect day to get married. I’ve said in other blog posts that I do not photograph well during the winter, but I’m so happy Amanda and Josh picked me to do their wedding! Through each session of walking up a snow hill, and chatting in a laundromat, to joking around on their wedding day, I have been able to witness the love and friendship that they have for each other, and I felt very blessed to be a part of such a big day for them!
Special thanks to Natasha Rombough for second shooting with me! It’s always a pleasure working with you!
A huge shout out to the staff at Bean Town Ranch! I’ve never met a more professional and experienced group of individuals for events than you guys!
And of course, thanks to Amanda and Josh for trusting me with their memories!
Follow me around social-media town for more great pictures!
